- Unilever has appointed McCann-Erickson Worldwide to its $70 million Australian media buying business, giving the Interpublic Group shop a major position on its media agency roster.

McCanns Sydney won the business following a competitive pitch that saw it beat incumbent MindShare, also out of Sydney, and Initiative Media.

The $70 million win is a massive boost for McCanns, which held just 3 per cent of Unilever's global media buying business prior to the win.

It had handled some of the Australian business before, back in 1994, when it shared the acount with J. Walter Thompson, Ogilvy & Mather and Initiative.
