The popular TV baking contest is moving to Channel 4 next year after the broadcaster outbid the BBC for the rights.
Paul Hollywood, Berry's fellow judge on the show, has signed a three-year contract to remain on the show.
Berry’s departure comes after presenters Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc said last week they would not move across to Channel 4.
In a statement, Berry said: "My decision to stay with the BBC is out of loyalty to them, as they have nurtured me, and the show, that was a unique and brilliant format from day one.
"What a privilege and honour it has been to be part of seven years of magic in a tent.
"I am just sad for the audience who may not be ready for change, I hope they understand my decision."
