
The event was produced by MCM Productions and took place on 7 February at the BBC Television Centre’s Studio One, and was attended by 320 guests including media.
The MVR-02 was designed entirely using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) and will be driven by Germany’s Timo Glock and Belgium’s Jerome d’Ambrosio.
Glock and d’Ambrosio attended the launch event alongside the Marussia Virgin Racing management team John Booth, Nick Wirth, Andy Webb, Graeme Lowdon and Nikolay Fomenko.
Before the MVR-02 was revealed the Marussia Virgin Racing management team and drivers took part in a recorded television production called ‘An Audience with Marussia Virgin Racing’ with BBC Radio 5 Formula One commentator David Croft as the host.
40 Virgin Racing fans also attended the launch after winning a competition. After the reveal the fans were given the opportunity to ask the Marussia Virgin Racing management team and drivers questions and take pictures with them and the MVR-02 car.
Blue Strawberry provided catering throughout the day with a selection of breakfast pastries, mini Cumberland sausages with mustard mash and glazed baby onions, sticky roast duck breast with stir fried hokkien noodles and choy sum, winter risotto with roast pumpkin, chestnut, baby spinach and parmesan, and Spanish cod with butter bean and stewed pepper casserole with chorizo and parsley.
Afternoon tea was also provided with red and black macaroons with white chocolate filling and mini lime cheesecake on a lemon shortbread biscuit.
