Under the plan, Mars' UK chocolate business will cease to be aligned to Continental Europe, and will instead operate on a standalone basis.
A Mars spokeswoman said the aim of the restructure was to allow markets with similar consumers, competitors and retail environments to work together.
As part of the shake-up, Fiona Dawson, the managing director of Mars UK’s chocolate division, will be promoted to the new role of UK president of chocolate.
Andy Weston-Webb, the president of chocolate for Western Europe, is to leave the company after five years. He was offered the role of president of chocolate for Continental Europe, which will be based outside the UK, but declined due to family illness.
The Continental president role will now go to Peter West, who is currently general manager of Mars' Australian snackfood business.
