LONDON (Brand Republic) – Retailer Marks & Spencer is to open a new line of convenience stores in May next year, in an attempt to compete with Sainsbury’s Local and Tesco Metro.
The retailer will open two trial stores in Twickenham and Surbiton and, if these are successful, will open a further 40 stores.
The stores will have flexible opening hours and will sell 2,000 products such as ready meals and pizza baked on the premises.
