Mark Cranmer resigns from Starcom

Mark Cranmer, the chief executive of Starcom Mediavest Group EMEA, has resigned.

Cranmer has been the region's chief executive for five years and is due to leave the agency next March. He does not have a job lined up.

Renowned for his drive, he was responsible for creating a coherent Starcom offering in Europe from disparate agencies including Motive, Leo Burnett and DMB&B.

Cranmer first came to prominence in the 80s as the assistant managing director of Lowe Howard-Spink, before becoming the managing director of BBDO in 1990. Three years later, he joined Bartle Bogle Hegarty as its strategic development director.

At BBH, he was instrumental in the creation of Motive, which became the foundation of Starcom in the UK.

No replacement has yet been determined and Jim Marshall, the chairman of Starcom UK, said: "It's very much business as usual."
