- Mansfield Lang, the direct media specialist, has drafted in Tony Vickers, the former sales director of BSkyB, as non-executive chairman.
Vickers joins the company with a brief to provide TV expertise to help Mansfield Lang capitalise on the benefits of digital TV for the benefit of its clients.
As well as leading the Sky airtime sales team, Vickers is a former sales director of TV-am and Capital Radio, and is now chairman of Forecourt Television, the channel which sells advertising space on petrol station forecourts.
According to Mansfield Lang's chief executive, Ken Mansfield, Vickers' experience in TV and radio sales will prove invaluable at a time when more and more clients are using multi-channel television.
"The company's established reputation and experience allied to Tony's talents and industry credibility will combine to provide our clients with a distinct advantage in the new wave of broadcasting opportunities," Mansfield added.
Vickers, who is also chairman of UBEVCO, the largest importer of foreign beers into the UK, said that his new role brought his career full circle. "I was in at the beginning of Capital Radio, TV-am and Sky TV and now with the start of digital TV, I am able to link up in helping the team here to sell the new concept of multi-channelled TV as it has never been seen before."
