Roberto Mancini, the sacked manager of Manchester City, took out an ad in the Manchester Evening News on Saturday to thank the club's fans.
The ad read: "Manchester City Supporters. 3 Unforgettable years", above a picture of Mancini with the three trophies he won with the club. Below the image, the ad said: "You will always be in my heart. Ciao. Roberto Mancini."
A spokesman for the Trinity Mirror local newspaper said Mancini booked and designed the ad himself. It was created by the MEN's design studio and sent to him for approval.
