Maiden Outdoor has created the role of group advertising
concessions director, as it reshapes its senior sales structure.
Alex Ward has been promoted to the position and will be responsible for
Maiden's commercial relationships with shopping mall and supermarket
landlords, with further responsibility for developing new products and
revenue streams.
Ward's remit covers 106 shopping malls, which account for 85 per cent of
malls that have poster advertising, and supermarket contracts including
Asda, Safeway and Somerfield, which give the poster contractor a 65 per
cent share of point-of-sale advertising at supermarkets.
Maiden managing director David Pugh said: "We have three or four
potential products in the pipeline that Alex will steer to market if
they are judged suitable."
Ward was previously group sales director. He will hand over the role to
director of sales Martin Kearns, who also joins the board of Maiden
Outdoor.
Kearns will be responsible for driving sales across Maiden's portfolio
of roadside billboards and railway station sites, including 6-sheets,
48-sheets and 96-sheets, as well as ambient media opportunities.
Pugh said: "Martin takes control at a testing time for ad sales in any
medium. But he has a great ability to read the market and I'm sure he
will be more than equal to the challenges that we face."
