At 4.5% ABV, Magners Light has 28 kcal per 100ml, which is less calories than most light beers.
The product will be available in a 330ml long-neck bottle. Its packaging features a silver-foil neck and silver front and back label to differentiate it from Magners Original.
Magners Light will be rolled out in the on-trade at Asda from October before being stocked in other retailers.
Magners brand manager Richard Barnes said the product has been developed in response to changing lifestyles and to tap into the growing international light-drinks market.
According to ACNielsen volume data, cider is the only growing category in the long-drinks market in Britain.
