The job includes responsibility for marketing the brand in Britain, a role currently taken by marketing director Maurice Breen.
C&C Group, Magners' Irish parent company, has been forced to make 150 redundancies to save EUR10m (£7m) to fuel investment in the UK, its biggest cider market. The investment will include a significant increase in marketing spend, which is currently £25m.
The cuts come a month after C&C posted a 33% fall in operating profit to EUR67.9m (£47.4m) in the six months to 31 August, with sales flat at EUR375.6m (£262m). This was preceded by two profit warnings in July. The firm attributed the fall to bad weather and tough UK competition.
