After coming top in London for the first time last quarter with a 7% share, Magic has cemented its leadership, albeit with a less convincing 6.5% share. Its reach held up at 1.87m listeners, according to the April-June Rajar audience figures for London stations.
In second place, Chrysalis' Heart FM is pushing hard with an increase in share from 5.7% to 6.1%, despite a drop in reach from 1.7m to 1.67m.
But Capital Radio continues to suffer and has lost share, down from 5.5% to 5%, and thousands of listeners, down from 1.72m to 1.64m.
Its reach is now lower than Heart's while BBC Radio 1 has rubbed salt in the wounds by jumping above Capital in share from 5.2% to 5.9% in London. Radio 1's reach also grew from 1.29m to 1.48m across the capital.
BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 4 were London's most-listened-to stations. Although each attracted more listeners than the previous quarter, they lost share, with Radio 2 down from 11.8% to 10.7% and Radio 4 down from 14% to 13.1%.
The BBC's largest challenger, GCap Media, Capital radio's parent network, has other problems. Its AM station Capital Gold's share fell from 1.7% to 1.3% and its reach from 701,000 to 590,000.
GCap's urban station Choice FM is down in share from 2.5% to 1.9% and in reach from 533,000 to 493,000, while Emap-owned rival Kiss FM increased its share from 3.7% to 4.4% and its reach from 1.29m to 1.5m.
A bright spot for the group was alternative music station Xfm, which boosted its share from 1.7% to 2.3% although its reach fell from 622,000 to 548,000.
Despite having had former Xfm star DJ Christian O'Connell on board for six months, Virgin Radio has not improved in London. Its share is down slightly from 3.7% to 3.6% and its reach is down from 1.17m to 1.08m.
In contrast, Guardian Media Group's Smooth FM looks like it has finally hit its stride after repositioning last year, and is up from 1.6% to 2.1% with an increase in listeners from 473,000 to 537,000.
London's speech station LBC, owned by Chrysalis, shed a third of its audience, which may be down to the volatility of the survey. Last quarter, it had 671,000 listeners and this quarter it had 476,000. Despite this, heavy listening prevented its share falling as hard; it is down from 3.2% to 2.9%.
