Today’s saw that only two of the top ten women’s monthlies were able to grow their circulation in the last year ending in June – albeit barely at 0.1 per cent – Yours and Prima.

Hearst's Good Housekeeping remains the leader of the women’s monthly league with a combined print and digital circulation of 404,205, down 3.7 per cent on the last period and down 0.6 per cent on last year.

It means that Good Housekeeping holds on to the top spot for the fourth successive report, since overtaking Glamour two years ago.

Glamour remains in second place but the gap between the top two has widened after the Condé Nast title's circulation dropped by 8.6 per cent over the last year, down to 370,012. It was down by 8.7 per cent versus the last period.

Hearst stablemate Elle came in just outside the top ten at 11th, but was able to report a growing combined circulation of 164,081; up 5.7 per cent year-on-year and up 0.4 per cent compared to the last period.

But the top ten's biggest fall in yearly circulation came from Hearst's Cosmopolitan: down 10.6 per cent year-on-year to 258,448.  But it grew 0.3 per cent period-on-period with a combined circulation of 258,448.

Anna Jones, the chief executive of Hearst Magazines UK, said: "Seeing strong growth from many of our key brands in print as we continue our positive growth trajectory online is fantastic.

"Good Housekeeping maintains its market leading position, Elle continues to deliver a valuable and growing fashion audience and Women's Health goes from strength to strength with an extremely strong editorial proposition.

"We recently appointed Farrah Storr, former editor of Women’s Health as Editor of Cosmopolitan, and we are looking forward to seeing her apply her talent to an even bigger audience."

Woman & Home, published by Time Inc., remains third with a circulation of 330,407, down 4.2 per cent compared to the same point of last year.

Of the free consumer magazines listed in the women's fashion lifestyle/fashion category, Stylist saw a 0.7 per cent increase compared to the previous period. Its circulation stands at 403,200, a drop of 7.5 per cent year-on-year.
