Lycra maker begins search for agency

The clothing and carpet fibre manufacturer Invista has launched a search for an advertising agency to handle a business-to-business campaign.

The company, which makes the fabrics Lycra, Cordura and Spandex, has approached a number of UK hotshops with a brief to create a global corporate campaign.

The search process is being managed and co-ordinated from Invista's Geneva office by the company's global brand and communications director, Bruce Rowley.

Rowley, a former group account director at Saatchi & Saatchi Hong Kong, was in London last week and held meetings with a number of agencies.

The move marks the first time Invista has embarked on a high-profile campaign for its fabric brands. The company is also understood to be on the look-out for a media agency to roll out the campaign internationally.

Invista was formerly the fibre and fabric arm of the US chemicals giant DuPont.

DuPont sold the business to the Wichita-based company Koch Industries in April 2004 in a deal worth $4.2 billion.

Invista has global sales in excess of $9 billion, and has 24,500 employees globally.
