The move follows Lowery's decision to leave the in-house organising arm of the Business Design Centre (BDC) in April to pursue other opportunities.
Paul Byrom is interim manager at the BDC, reporting to chief executive Dominic Jones. Lowery took up his position at Brand Events on 24 May and will continue to drive the company's recent growth, which includes managing the launch of a second MPH motoring event, to be staged at the Birmingham NEC from 10-13 November.
Brand Events managing director Chris Hughes said: "This is an important addition to our board and one that will help us to continue to grow the business both in the UK and abroad.
"We are building MPH into a touring event and developing a team that will continue to drive the whole business forward. We're also looking to recruit further marketing personnel in order to make this happen," he added.
Last year, Brand Events sold its Vitality Show, the Ordnance Survey Outdoors Show and the Outdoor Adventure Show to Dmg World Media in a deal worth 拢5m (Event, March 2004). Since then, the organiser has launched Italian lifestyle event La Dolce Vita, acquired Australia and New Zealand-focused event Toast Life and announced Weekend at Dave's, planned for London's Excel from 23-25 September.
