Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra will head the bill at the inaugeral Love Supreme Jazz Festival at Glynde Place near Brighton from 5-7 July.
It is sponsored by Jazz FM and organised by producer Serious - which organised - entertainment investors Ingenious and music management company Neapolitan Music. The three companies announced earlier this year that they have provided £2 million in funding between them.
Organisers claim Love Supreme will revive a tradition of open-air jazz festivals that began in the 1950s and 1960s at country house venues. Some outdoor festivals have evolved as music styles changed, with the National Jazz and Blues Festival - which launched in the 1960s - becoming today’s Reading and Leeds festivals.
Ciro Romano, festival director and managing director of Neapolitan Music, said: "We are thrilled that the passionate combination of Jazz FM, Ingenious, Serious and ourselves will bring back the green field jazz festival after such a long break. We wanted to be able to provide a quality experience where at one cost there would be a massive variety of jazz music on offer and the festival at Glynde Place will allow us to do this."
The camping festival will feature four stages and more than 40 acts, including Jools Holland and Grammy-winning bassist Marcus Miller, known for his association with Miles Davis.
