It is not the first time a big show's audience has dropped after a move from a terrestrial channel to Sky One. Channel 4 was compensated for the loss of its hit show 'Lost' by the popularity of the last film in the 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy, which aired from 8pm and attracted 3.3m viewers, earning the channel a 16.5% viewing share.
Last night's most popular programme was ITV1's 'I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!', which has been performing well following its debut last Monday with 8.9m viewers.
Up against BBC One's 'Planet Earth' at 9pm, the reality show drew in 7.7m viewers which earned it a 30% share. 'Planet Earth', which ironically focused on jungle wildlife this week, got 6.7m and a 26% share.
On Saturday night, the 9.25pm showing of 'I'm a Celebrity' attracted 7m viewers and was pipped by the voting result of BBC One's 'Strictly Come Dancing', which managed 7.3m.
However, earlier in the evening pop contest 'X-Factor' had steamrollered BBC One's 'Robin Hood' with 8.8m viewers and a 37.7% share to the BBC's 5.5m and 23.6%.
