News International's thelondonpaper posted a distribution figure of 500,601 copies, a lift of 363 from August 2008, or 0.05% month on month. The newspaper is set to close at the end of this month, leaving the London Lite and London Evening Standard to battle it out for supremacy in the capital.
CityAM, the free daily business newspaper, recorded a distribution of 84,568 copies in August, down 4.77% on July. The title is now, however, claiming to be increasing its distribution after pegging back the copies it hands out during the summer when many of its City-based readers are on holiday.
Associated's Metro London - the capital's largest free newspaper by circulation - recorded a distribution of 730,576 in August, down more than 12,000 copies year on year. However, this figure was down 0.24% from the previous month.
