People who have been successful will have funds deducted from their bank accounts, even though some of them will not know which events they have tickets for.

The process will finish on 10 June.

Customers have paid for the tickets for Olympics events by a variety of methods, including cheques and postal orders, as well as by credit cards.

Previously, Locog revealed it had received more than 20 million applications for the 6.6 million Olympics tickets available. The ticket application lasted for six weeks and finished on 26 April.

Customers will not be permitted to receive refunds. Instead, Locog will launch an official resale platform next year, giving those people who missed out, a second chance to get tickets.

Any tickets that remain unsold by organisers are expected to be made available in further ballots.
