London 2012 ad to wrap Dome

The London 2012 bid team is to create Europe's biggest outdoor poster site by wrapping the Millennium Dome in a 'Back the bid' banner.

The move is controversial, not least because the Dome is perceived as one of the UK's highest-profile failures of the past few years. The London 2012 team has also distanced itself from the Dome in the past, with former president Barbara Cassani reportedly refusing to be photographed with the building in shot for fear of comparisons.

The poster initiative comes ahead of an evaluation visit by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on 16 February.

At about 7000m2, the poster is twice the size of the biggest existing outdoor wrap at Fort Dunlop in Birmingham, and will be clearly visible from flights coming in to all London airports.
