The standard sets out a framework for achieving environmental, financial and social sustainability in events by reducing costs, carbon emissions and waste, managing the biodiversity of venues, and creating business legacies.

Sharon Ward, Logistik’s corporate responsibility manager said the move to ISO 20121 came at a good time.

"It’s taken us six years but we can now boast a fully integrated holistic approach aligned to our business plan and core activities. We can see some good improvement and employee engagement is high," she said.

Dirk Mischendahl, joint managing director of the group, added: "Logistik’s sustainability systems have reached full maturity in 2012. Everyone’s really got to grips with how they work, and we can now show both innovation and return on investment."

The new standard not only focuses on environmental impact but also highlights Logistik’s commitment to social sustainability, including its partnerships with the Northern Arts Prize, and its recent campaign working with BT Art Box in support of Childline’s 25th anniversary.
