Location, Location, Location special draws bumper audience to C4

LONDON - Last night's live special of Channel 4's 'Location, Location, Location' on the best and worst places to live was a ratings winner, with an average audience of 3m tuning in.

The show, which was scheduled in the 9pm-10.40pm slot, took a 13.9% share of audience, despite strong competition from the BBC and ITV, according to the unofficial overnight figures.

Edinburgh was revealed as the best place to live in the UK, followed by last year's winner, Winchester. The Surrey boroughs of Epsom & Ewell and Waverly grabbed third and fourth spot respectively.

Middlesbrough was voted as the worst place to live, with another Northern location, Kingston upon Hull, in second place.

'Location, Location, Location' was up against BBC2's US action drama, 'Heroes', in the 9pm-9.45pm slot.

'Heroes' failed to eclipse 'Location, Location, Location', and was watched by 2.4m and a 10.2% share.

ITV1 scheduled Hollywood movie, 'Miss Congeniality 2' between 9pm-10.30pm. The Sandra Bullock sequel drew 3.7m and a 16.6% share.

The national England football team's disastrous 2-1 defeat at the hands of Russia in Moscow was shown in a highlights package on BBC One.

The 'Match of the Day' special attracted 1.3m and a 16.1% share in the 10.40pm-11.50pm slot.
