Liverpool City Council launches a range of free events in 2009

Liverpool City Council is building on the success of the city as Capital of Culture last year by introducing over 100 free events and festivals in 2009.

In its bid to be the ‘UK Capital of Free Culture' in 2009 the events programme will include a range of cultural activities including the On the Waterfront festival and art event A Winters Trail.

The Liverpool City Council's new culture team Culture Liverpool has also revamped some of the city's biggest free events such as a new week long fringe festival Hub Life and Hub Night from 24 - 31 May and the Liverpool's Lord Mayor's Pageant on 6 June will have a new route.

The council has also recently approved an £8.45m arts budget.
