Open for just one day on Friday (29 May), the H2Only Bar has been devised to highlight the charity’s latest campaign, which will see supporters drink only water for 10 days from 2 June.
The bar will house a single cold water tap and cardboard cups for drinking. Each drink will be free to visitors, all of whom will be encouraged to sign up to the H2Only fundraising challenge.
The overall campaign has been designed to raise awareness of the ‘fourth emergency service’ inland, where only 60% of people are aware of the charity.
RNLI is collaborating with PR agency Red Consultancy to host the pop-up and roll out the wider initiative.
Andy Mayo, RNLI lifeboat helm at Chiswick Lifeboat Station, said: "We rely on public funding to help us stay on the water rescuing anyone who needs our help, so we’re asking people to stay on the water themselves for 10 days from 2-12 June.
"Our temporary bar is a fun, cheap way to recruit Londoners and raise awareness of the amazing work the RNLI does."
