LONDON - Liberty, the London department store is conducting a review of the business as it looks to expand across the UK and internationally.

The store, which was founded in 1875, is appointing advisors to carry out the review which could lead to new ownership through acquisition firms.

Despite the economic recession the department store is said to have a strong trading performance during the first half of 2009. In 2008 sales increased by 9% to £50.1m.
