Lego Company creates girl group for promotion

The Lego Company has created a girl group to promote its Clikits toy, which comprises beads and other items that click together to create products such as jewellery and accessories. The group members in the TV ad, by Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R, are based on three characters - Heart, Daisy and Star - that represent the styles within the range on packs and marketing materials. Shot in the manner of a pop promo, the TV spot launched Clikits in the US last month and is expected to break in the UK in August, when Clikits go on sale. Print ads will also show the girls posing to show off their creations, with the same strapline, 'Click it your way'. Media buying is by Starcom Motive and planning is through TME 360, part of Mediaedge:cia.
