Bartlett moves from ITV Studios, where he was managing director, overseeing ITV’s UK and international production and distribution business, since July 2008. He joined ITV Studios as chief operation officer in April 2008.
Bartlett was sidelined as managing director of ITV Studios when Channel 4’s content head Kevin Lygo was appointed to the same role in April.
At Discovery, Bartlett will oversee the development of Discovery’s overall business affairs and management strategies with day to day oversight of programming content for all of Discovery’s global networks and digital platforms.
He will start in September and be based in its Los Angeles office.
Prior to ITV, Bartlett was executive vice president for business affairs at Fox Broadcasting Company since 2005.
