Lebedev sets up new shell company

LONDON - A company called Independent Print Ltd has been registered at Companies House, with Evgeny Lebedev the sole director.

Independent Print Ltd was registered on 5 February as a subsidiary of Lebedev Holdings Limited  – the umbrella group formed by Alexander Lebedev and his son Evgeny that holds a 75% stake in the London Evening Standard.

The new shell company has one registered share and has disclosed little further information. Alastair Tulloch a legal representative of the Lebedevs, is registered as company secretary.

The extended deadline for talks between Lebedev and Independent News & Media, the owner of The Independent and The Independent on Sunday, is tomorrow (Friday).

The Lebedevs set up a shell company, Evening Press Ltd, before their purchase of a controlling stake in the Evening Standard last year.

No one from Lebedev Holdings was available for comment.
