Lambie Nairn wins Pearson Television rebranding task

RTL Group has appointed WPP Group design consultancy Lambie Nairn to handle the rebranding of its television production company, Pearson Television.

LONDON (Brand Republic) – RTL Group has appointed WPP Group design consultancy Lambie Nairn to handle the rebranding of its television production company, Pearson Television.

Lambie Nairn is understood to be considering a number of choices for a new name for the division, some of which were suggested by Pearson Television staff.

The Pearson name is expected to go in the rebranding exercise, but this is not linked to speculation that Pearson is to dispose of its 22% interest in RTL.

Rather than giving the division the RTL name, the pan-European broadcaster is keen to ensure the business keeps its independence, so that it can continue to sell content to rival broadcasters.

Lambie Nairn is famous for creating the Channel 4 brand when it launched in 1982. It also handled the re-branding of BBC 1 and BBC2 in 1991. Its most recent high profile work was the £5m global re-branding of BBC1. It was acquired by WPP in 1999.
