The Labour Party has invited Saatchi & Saatchi, the agency behind

the famous ’Labour isn’t working’ ad, to pitch for its advertising

account.

Labour has shortlisted J. Walter Thompson, Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper and

TBWA GGT Simons Palmer to pitch against Saatchis for the prized job of

running its general election campaign.

Saatchis handled three general elections for the Conservatives before

the departure of Maurice and Charles Saatchi. M&C Saatchi won the

Conservative Party account for the 1997 election.

Party officials whittled a list of 50 agencies down to four, which will

pitch to Labour bosses in two weeks.

BMP DDB, which worked on Labour’s 1997 campaign, parted company with the

party amicably last year.
