Kylie Minogue is new face of Eurostar

LONDON - Kylie Minogue, the diminutive Australian songstress currently beating Victoria Beckham to the UK number one spot, is to appear in her first UK ad as the new face of Eurostar.

The Kylie execution continues the campaign that kicked off with offbeat American actor John Malkovich.



The commercial, which airs for the first time on Friday at 7.45pm during Coronation Street, shows Kylie confessing that one of the things she likes best is to take a journey away from the spotlight and into the anonymity of Europe.



The ad, created by Eurostar agency TBWA\London, features fleeting glimpses of Kylie running across bridges, dissolving into the crowds in busy areas and sipping coffee in a caf茅, parading around a bridal shop in a gorgeous wedding gown and sliding down handrails beside steps in Montmartre.



Kylie says, "I can go to places I couldn't normally go to and do things I've always wanted to do -- just take time for myself, really." Returning on Eurostar, she reveals that this is a very private break that recharges the batteries powering her public persona.



Joanna Howard, marketing manager at Eurostar, said, "Kylie continues the campaign we kicked off with John Malkovich. The commercial has got a special feel because of Kylie's very natural expression of liberation and excitement. She herself knows that getting on Eurostar at Waterloo and stepping off in the heart of Paris at the Gare du Nord is a fantastic -- and fantastically easy -- way of escaping the everyday mania of London life."



The commercial is directed by Steve Reeves and produced by Tim Marshall from Another Film Company. It will be run in tandem with the successful John Malkovich ad.
