Long-haul tour operator Kuoni has completed a pounds 100,000-plus relaunch of its web site (www.kuoni.co.uk), which will enable users to make real-time holiday reservations and amendments online.
Users of the site will be able to make adjustments and bookings by linking into Galileo, a central reservations system for airlines and tour-operators. This will enable them to take advantage of up-to-the-minute travel details.
The site also features weather reports provided by the Meteorological Office, online currency ordering using an international currency exchange, and destination information using content supplied by Swiss-based JPM publications.
The revamped site comes just weeks after the pounds 75,000 relaunch of tour-operator Cosmos' web site, which tends to cater for the short-haul, chartered flight market.
Other players in the long-haul market include British Airways Holidays, Thomson Holidays and Airtours, although Kuoni's new-media manager Matt Rooke said that Kuoni was the only one to feature a live link to Galileo, enabling users to amend their booking details immediately.
Kuoni's site launched two-years ago, but Rooke said that future phases of the site would enable users to tailor-make their own holidays.
He added that the site would begin to host advertising in the third or fourth quarter of 2001.
