KitKat's Virtual Vending Machine hosts inter-campus staring competition

KitKat's interactive staring competition between two rival universities is a hit, writes Be On.

"This one minute clip is incisive and comical, and even makes you wonder how proficient your own staring capabilities are."

Vending machines are known for their convenience, which is why confectionary giant KitKit placed them on two rival university campuses in Brazil, encouraging students to Take A Break.

This brand, renowned for a work hard/play hard mentality, invites students to take part in the ultimate virtual staring contest for the chance to win a study break treat.

The vending machines are engineered by facial recognition systems, using a connected live stream between both devices.

In the video, enthused passers-by cannot resist participating in the stare-down, attracting small audiences who appear bemused when watching the animated competition taking place between both campuses. Whoever wins the staring contest is treated to a KitKat Chunky Bar.

Created by JWT Brazil, this one minute clip is incisive and comical, and even makes you wonder how proficient your own staring capabilities are.

Despite its length, the production style is that of a modern day country-western movie, supported by a gripping soundtrack that encapsulates the light-hearted tone of the advert. Nestlé subsidiary KitKat is renowned for its good-natured campaigns, and this latest project does not disappoint.
