Crisp will optimise the WPP out-of-home communications agency's EMEA network, which has billings of ¤2bn, and promote Kinetic's unified strategy across its 14 EMEA offices.
His responsibilities will include delivering a consistent service in each country, developing the Kinetic brand and its influence in each market and promoting the possibilities of out-of-home media.
Crisp founded Adwalker, an out-of- home, mobile, interactive media platform, in 2003 and it was floated on the London Stock Exchange two years later. But Adwalker fell into difficulties and ceased trading as a going concern, appointing a liquidator earlier this month (9 July).
Steve Ridley, Kinetic global chief operating officer, said Crisp's background contains a "rare mix of entrepreneurial and media agency experience" and this combination will give Kinetic an advantage as it expands the depth of service it offers across EMEA to ensure its clients continue to receive the best out-of-home planning opportunities available.
Crisp has worked in media, marketing and technology for 25 years. He spent much of his early career at ad agency Ogilvy & Mather, where he was responsible for broadcast media strategy as part of the media management team.
After leaving O&M, he was client services director at MTV Europe before founding internet start-up Sportforyou.com and then joining sports trading company Intrade as chief marketing officer in 2000.
Kinetic, led by global chief executive Eric Newnham, is 50% owned by the Kinetic management team, 50% by WPP. In EMEA, it employs 500 people and has offices in Germany, Spain, Italy, Netherlands and Russia.
