Anxiety, depression and grief are problems adults and children struggle with but kids’ feelings are often ignored or not taken seriously.
Kids Help Phone, a 24/7 e-mental health service in Canada, launched a campaign to raise awareness of children’s adult-sized problems. In one spot, actress Tatiana Maslany describes her battle with grief.
"I’m so mad, no one said anything today," she says. "They just acted like it was any other day. My brother died three years ago and we’ve already stopped talking about him. He always found a way to make me laugh. I miss him every single day and we’re already pretending like he didn’t exist."
It’s revealed that the monologue was a phone call from an 11-year-old. "Grief isn’t just for grown-ups," the voice-over says.
