In addition to the 2012 Olympics, the UK can look forward to The Ryder Cup in 2010 and 2014, the Champions League Final in 2012 and the Rugby League World Cup in 2013.
There is also the prospect of England landing the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
"Iconic events such as the Olympics will be, for some, a once-in-a-lifetime experience with demand for tickets set to be high. And so too with opportunism; driven by greed, fuelled by the internet, and, in some cases, a large back garden," said Keith Prowse marketing manager Ted Walker.
Walker went on to warn of the rise in sub-standard corporate hospitality providers.
"The event organiser is essentially underwriting the quality of the official supplier. The very best seats are guaranteed, as are the food and beverage offering and the quality of service," he added.
