Kawasaki hands pan-European ad work to Publicis

Kawasaki Europe has chosen Publicis to handle its pan-European advertising, as it consolidates its brand across the region for the first time.

Kawasaki has a presence in France, Sweden, the UK, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands. Publicis will promote the brand's motorcycles, as well as products such as jet-skis and ATVs (all-terrain vehicles).

The pitch was co-ordinated by Kawasaki's European head office, based in the Netherlands, with the appointment overseen by the marketing team there, headed by European marketing manager Jan Willem van der Straten.

The account will be led by Publicis' Dutch office. Local offices may be involved in adapting the work. The company's advertising was previously handled by individual agencies in each European market.

Middlesex agency Orchard has handled the UK account, consisting mainly of specialist press ads, since 1999.

A spokesman cited two reasons for a pan-European agency: budget and to create a consistent message.
