JWT names New York creative chief

LONDON - J Walter Thompson has appointed Michael Campbell as executive vice-president and executive creative director for its New York office.

Campbell joins from BBDO New York where he was executive vice-president, senior creative director and a member of the board. He joins the agency on February 27.

For the past year, creative output at JWT has operated under a decentralised model supervised by Bill Hamilton, worldwide creative director. Hamilton is now free to concentrate on global accounts for the WPP Group-owned agency, including Sun Microsystems and Merrill Lynch.

Campbell will lead a team of 125 in the creative department, overseeing nine group creative directors. He is also tasked with spearheading the search for fresh talent and guiding new business. He will report to Bob Jeffrey, president of JWT New York.

The agency had billings of $1.4bn (拢970m) last year and clients include Diageo/UDV, Kimberly-Clark, Kellogg and Unilever.
