LONDON (Brand Republic) - J Walter Thompson has promoted Bob Jeffrey, the president of its New York office, to the post of president of JWT North America.
Jeffrey’s appointment is effective immediately and he will remain in the New York office where he has worked since April 1998. He will be responsible for the seven principal offices and 25 service offices for JWT North America across the US and Canada, for which billings grew 20% last year to top $4.7bn (£3.25bn).
He replaces JWT North America chairman Peter Schweitzer, who stepped down after assuming the role of president and chief executive officer for JWT Worldwide in January. Mary Baglivo remains chief operating officer of JWT North America and global business director on Pfizer.
After three years under Jeffrey’s leadership, JWT NY has attracted $1bn (£691m) in new billings from blue-chip clients including Merrill Lynch, KPMG, Sun Microsystems, Qwest Communications, Spencer Stuart and Diageo/UDV.
