As first revealed by ±±¾©Èü³µpk10 last month, Hayward will rejoin JWT having spent seven years working at the agency's London and Barcelona offices between 1987 and 1994.
He replaces Alison Burns, who left the agency at the beginning of this year to take up the position of global client services director at JWT's New York office.
In his new role, Hayward will be responsible for running the main agency as well as developing the Group's integrated proposition ahead of the prespective merger with JWT and RMG Connect which will officially launch on 1 January 2010.
He will report to Toby Hoare, the chairman and chief executive of JWT Europe.
Hayward said: "Our business has entered a totally new era and I'm delighted to have the opportunity to help lead JWT into this."
Hoare added: "There were many excellent candidates but Guy stood apart as his background combines six successful years at JWT along with being a founder of one of Europe's most innovative and admired agencies."
