A survey of 1,000 people carried out by McCann Erickson shows that more than 70% could recognise and remember the ad created by the now-defunct Still Price Lintas in 1983.
Due to this response, McCann Erickson has decided to recreate and relaunch the ad for the run up to the World Cup this summer, meaning that after a 23-year wait, the opera-inspired jingle will be back on television again.
Previously the tune was sung by a gondolier, but this time the ad has been shot in London, and features iconic landmarks including Piccadilly Circus, London Buses and the marathon.
The ad, sung to the tune of Italian love song 'O Sole Mio', came top of a survey that featured other well-known ads such as Shake'n'Vac "do the shake and vac" and R-Whites "Secret Lemonade Drinker".
