John Leslie to sell his story to the Express for £550,000

LONDON - John Leslie, the former ITV presenter who faced allegations of sexual assault, is to sell his story to the Daily Express for a sum reported to be £550,000.

The Independent reports that Richard Desmond's Daily Express has won the right to tell Leslie's story after a fierce bidding war, and that the story will be shared with sister title the Daily Star.

Last week, it was revealed that Leslie would not be facing legal action after the Crown Prosecution Service said there was a lack of evidence against him.

Leslie has been linked to fellow television presenter Ulrika Jonsson after Jonsson said in her autobiography 'Honest' that she had been date-raped by a man in the 1980s who worked in television, whom she did not name.

Rumours were circulating about the man's identity, but the media did not name Leslie until Five presenter Matthew Wright mentioned him during his chat show last October, opening the floodgates. Several women then came forward to the tabloids claiming that Leslie had assaulted them.

Leslie lost his job at ITV, where he was a co-presenter of 'This Morning' with Fern Britten, who has remained publicly supportive of him. He has kept a low profile since the scandal erupted.
