Jim Freeman leads Telegraph trading

The Telegraph Group has continued to build its new management team with the hiring of Jim Freeman from ZenithOptimedia to head trading across its operations.

Freeman, ZenithOptimedia's group head of press and radio, will report to Dave King, the former Emap Advertising managing director, who has just joined the group as an executive director.

The Telegraph Group's sales director, Chris White-Smith, left in December as part of a purge of the old management team instigated by its chief executive, Murdoch MacLennan.

ZenithOptimedia has promoted Kelly Harrold to the role of head of press and Mike Buckley to the post of head of radio to cover the loss of Freeman.

King said: "I am delighted to announce such a major signing in my first week. Jim will add expertise in the critical area of trading and sales as the market continues to consolidate. He is an ideal cultural fit for the new era. He joins a team that is looking to shape the future of national press sales."
