Carr will join the agency later this year and work on various accounts, reporting directly to the executive creative director, Russell Ramsey.
At Dare, Carr had most recently overseen the creative output on the agency's Waitrose business. However, in March, the Waitrose account moved from Dare to the start-up agency Now.
Carr was initially expected to join the rest of the account team in moving to the newly created agency.
He was the creative director on the Waitrose account for four years, during which time he oversaw the "Delia and Heston" campaign, as well as the launch of "Essential Waitrose".
At MCBD, which merged with Dare in January, he also worked on brands including Premier Foods, Greene King and Time to Change.
Carr began his advertising career at Ted Bates as an art director. He switched to copywriting after joining BMP DDB, before moving on to Lowe, Bartle Bogle Hegarty and Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO. In 2002, he left AMV to join MCBD.
Meanwhile, JWT has also bolstered its digital department with the hiring of Agency Republic's associate creative director, Chris Jones.
Jones, who has previously also worked at Saatchi & Saatchi and DDB New Zealand, will become the digital creative director.
