The 4x4 brand provided the Catcher Car, which set off 30 minutes after participants travelling at a constant speed of 15km/h.

Jeep brand ambassadors, wave surfer Andrew Cotton and Olympic snowboarder Aimee Fuller were participating alongside other competitors.

The run, which started in 2014, takes place in 34 locations around the world and starts at the same time across the globe, 12:00 BST. The last competitor to be caught by the Catcher Car over the 100km course is crowed the global winner.

Damien Dally, head of brand at Jeep UK, said: "We are excited to be able to partner with such a unique and important charity as Wings for Life. Jeep vehicles are fit for drivers of varying physical capabilities and so we are proud to partner with a charity, which aims to get the whole world moving. We want to wish all the participants the very best of luck as they try to outrun the Jeep Catcher Car."
