JCDecaux takes on specialist for Network Rail bid

JCDecaux has signalled its intention to win the multi-million-pound Network Rail outdoor ad contract, covering all the UK's principal stations, by hiring Network Rail's commercial advertising manager, Yan Huybrechts, as director of special projects.

Huybrechts will be responsible for UK expansion outside of JCDecaux's core billboard, street furniture and airport assets. He has knowledge of Network Rail's property estates - where he has spent the past five years - together with an understanding of the existing contract with Maiden Outdoor.

The contract was put out to tender at the end of last year and Huybrechts would have been the decision-maker on the agency appointment.

As well as billboards on 21 of the UK's biggest stations, including all London mainline stations, Maiden operates concourse exhibitions and distribution and sampling arrangements, including the distribution of the free Metro newspaper, on behalf of Network Rail.
