JCDecaux Airport unveils digital strategy

LONDON - JCDecaux Airport is to install 280 digital sites at Heathrow Terminal 5 when it opens next year as part of a roll-out of 700 screens across the UK's major airports.

JCDecaux Airport unveils digital strategy
All 1,800 advertising sites across BAA's airports are to be upgraded with an estimated investment of £25million in state-of-the-art digital technology and poster advertising sites at T5 alone.

The advertising was created as an integral part of T5's design, with every site positioned to achieve maximum exposure.

Half of the sites at the new terminal will be digital, creating what JCDecaux Airport claims is the largest digital estate of any airport in the world.

Four giant lightboxes, known as Giant Gateways, will dominate the ticket presentation channels, each one larger than four London buses, and six hanging banners, called Skyscrapers, will greet every single passenger entering T5.

There will also be a dedicated zone where advertisers can provide "interactive brand experiences" for passengers.

It is estimated that 27m British Airways passengers will pass through the terminal in the first year alone.
