Eley will be responsible for driving sponsorship and promotions revenue for Jazz FM. She will report to head of sales Rupert Garrett.
At Global Radio Lauren was national account manager for three years and worked across Classic FM, LBC and the Big Top 40. Before joining Global Radio, Eley worked in commercial radio in her native New Zealand.
Sponsorship and promotion sales were previously subcontracted to Karen Morris, director of sponsorship sales house Brandmeetsbrand, but Jazz FM decided to appoint a specialist to concentrate on the brand.
Garrett said: "Jazz FM has many prime programmes and features that are relevant for high quality brands and so the time is right to bring our sponsorship and promotion resource in house".
Jazz FM generates a significant proportion of its income from sponsorship and current sponsors include alcohol brand Southern Comfort, the Financial Times and restaurant Pizza Express.
Garrett joined Jazz FM as its first head of sales in November 2009. Jazz FM's national air time sales are handled by First Radio Sales, its regional sales are handled by TCP and its online sales house is OTP.
The Local Radio Company re-launched Jazz FM in October 2008 under licence from GMG and, in January 2009 Wheatly resigned as a non-executive director of TLRC to lead a purchase of the station in April 2009.
