The first scent for women, Jaeger London, is to launch in the summer. It is named after the firm's 60s sub-brand, which was resurrected as a fashion range in 2005 as part of a repositioning intended to boost Jaeger's appeal to younger consumers.
A male fragrance will be rolled out in 2008. Both scents are expected to be priced at the high end of the market. It is not yet known what marketing activity will support their launch.
Rival fashion brand Burberry launched the Burberry London fragrance last year, with ads featuring actors Rachel Weisz and Ioan Gruffudd around city landmarks.
Aspects Beauty also produces licensed fragrances for fashion designer Matthew Williamson and Savile Row tailor Richard James.
The 122-year-old Jaeger brand was acquired by retail entrepreneur Harold Tillman, who owns Allders, in 2003. Its products and design team were subsequently overhauled, with some concessions closed as they were not deemed a suitable fit with the brand image. Jaeger now has 120 UK outlets and department-store concessions.
