ITV1 documentary narrowly tops ratings with 3.7m

LONDON - The debut of ITV1 documentary, '7 Days on the Breadline', featuring celebrities such as Keith Allen living with low-income families was watched by 3.7 million viewers, according to unofficial overnight figures.

The three-part documentary offers a look at the conditions faced by deprived families in Leeds through the experiences of Allen, Spice Girl Mel B, fashion advisor Trinny Woodall and former rugby player Austin Healey.

The size of the audience put ITV1 top in the 9pm-10pm slot, albeit with just a 16.3% share and only 100,000 viewers ahead of BBC One's 'Around the World in 80 Days' Children in Need balloon race fundraiser.

'CSI: Miami' pulled in 2.6 million viewers for Five, giving the channel an 11.4% share, ahead of the rest of the terrestrial channels.

Channel 4 managed 1.4 million viewers for 'The Force', a fly-on-the-wall series following a police unit investigating rape cases, with another 154,000 watching it on Channel 4+1.

BBC Two matched C4's audience with a Horizon documentary asking 'how do we know who we are?'.
